Dry Eyes Consultation

Dry Eyes syndrome happens when your eyes are unable to maintain a healthy film of tears. The film lubricates your eyes, keeps out foreign particles and helps maintain good vision

We run dry eye consultations by appointment for £30.00

Dry Eyes syndrome happens when your eyes are unable to maintain a healthy film of tears. The film lubricates your eyes, keeps out foreign particles and helps maintain good vision. If you have dry eyes, you may feel:

  • a feeling of dryness in the eye,
  • foreign body sensation – you feel there is something in your eye.
  • blurred vision.

If you wear contact lenses, dry eyes can make them uncomfortable. Dry eyes can lead to infection and corneal scarring.

We treat various aspects of dry eyes syndrome, such as:

  • evaporative dry eye problems.
  • mucous deficiency.
  • blepharitis.
  • dry eyes secondary arthritis (a manifestation of rheumatoid arthritis).

We stock many different eye drops such as Hycosan, Lubristil, Clinitas etc  Carmelllose, Thealoz and Thealoz Duo. All our drops are preservative free and have a long shelf life of 3-6 months.

We also stock EyeBags, which are used to treat meibomian gland dysfunction, blepharitis, evaporative dry eye syndrome, eyelid cysts and styes, contact lens dry eye and post laser dry eye.

What are EyeBags?
Some dry eyes conditions such as meibomian gland dysfunction are traditionally treated with a hot warm flannel to warm the eyes. These tend to cool quickly and can be inconvenient to use. EyeBags can be warmed in a microwave and maintain their temperature for longer than wet flannels, which improves lubrication of the eye (see below).

If you are suffering from dry eyes, please book an appointment using the form on this page or call our centre on 01778 421188 for more information.
